Day Eighteen: God The Healer: Salvation was his purpose!

                                                                 Day Eighteen

"according to his purpose which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth."  Ephesians 1:9-10

Well, for starters, what in the world is God's purpose for my life?  We all ask that, in some way or another, at some point in our lives.  Well, in my viewpoint and I share it with quite a few, is that our purpose is to glorify God and to enjoy him forever.  To put it plainly, to seek his face daily with a pure and truthful heart directs us to purpose.  But, what then is God's purpose for our life?

Well, his purpose is to save us from destruction and death.  His purpose was to send Christ to die for our sins so that we could spend all eternity in constant communion, worship, and relationship with him.  This purpose is his divine gift to us this Christmas; Christ is the human manifestation of that gift to us.

Rest in your eternal position before the Lord, that you were saved because God purposed in his heart to save you.  Why? Simply put, because he loves you, always has, always will.  As my husband put it, at our darkest hours, when there seems no way out of the terrors that are coming, we can know that the "thread" we are barely hanging onto is not going to let us down, because as my husband and I both believe that thread is God. And, honestly, as we seem to be barely hanging on, he's holding on with full force.  So, trust in his saving grace; in your most darkest hour, he won't let you down.

Peace be with you tonight and this week.

"For this light and momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen.  For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal."  2 Corinthians 3:17-18
