Well readers recently I visited the website for the daily newspaper published in the area I grew up in and saw a piece of public opinion that said:
"The powerless Democrats are so desperate they actually think Senator Elizabeth Warren is the future of their party....The mainstream liberal media are overacting to Trump’s dumb daily morning tweets like they are official edicts coming from the ghost of Joe Stalin.....The media are so hysterical they see Trump’s comments about “so-called” judges or his complaints about a biased judiciary as signs that he is a despotic imperial president intent on blowing up the federal government’s balance of powers."
As you can figure I became a bit insulted so I wrote the following Letter to the Editor (which may not get published yet thought it should be written. Please enjoy
Dear Editor,
I logged onto the Thomasville (GA) Times-Enterprise website for the first time in at least three months noticing an opinion dated February 12, 2017 which said "The powerless Democrats are so desperate they actually think Senator Elizabeth Warren is the future of their party." Personally I find the fact that someone referred to Democrats as Powerless highly insulting & yet am surprised you published a letter which refers to the media as "hypocritical". To quote former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis "You have to have been a Republican to know how good it is to be a Democrat."
This I know to be true as prior to moving away from home in 2002 (I am a native born Thomas Countian), & up until 2007, I identified as a Republican. As I began to see the lies, falsehoods, & stagnate attitudes people had always spouted about people & ideas who were different from the accepted way to be which is conservative, white, heterosexual, cisgender (look it up), Republican, male I began to see the err of my own ways (Note: I am White, Female, Democrat, and Moderate, who some might call Liberal, that has the decency to actually research the voting records of my elected reps & reads the proposed bills, acts, & legislation). Since the election of 2008 I have identified as & will continue to be a Democrat until my dying day because the Democrats ARE the party of the people & the MOST progressive towards equality, sciences, & other advancements of the Human Race. Call me a liberal if you want but as John F. Kennedy said “If by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people-their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights and their civil liberties-someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal", then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal.""
Call me what you want to yet all I see is insults from the Republican Party towards anyone different from them or progressively minded. Before your readers start saying "Well you should visit and find out what it's like down here"; been there done that; got the t-shirt; spent almost a total of 21 years in that area & sorry but no thanks I like having & being able to use my head for something besides a hat rack. Wake Up folks; stop being sheep that are being lead to becoming the sacrifice & start thinking for yourselves. The Current Elected Representatives of the majority party in the legislature and White House in Washington D.C. are only looking out for themselves and their family, their major contributors, & the rest of the 1%'s grow & prosperity they could care less & less about your prosperity & mine.
